Privacy and cookies

This site is run by Eduard Vlase Limited, a company in the United Kingdom. There's no advertising, and you can use everything without an account. A free account is there if you want your progress on every device. The only cookies are two that keep you signed in, if you create an account.
Cookies
This site doesn't use Google Analytics or any other tool that sets cookies to follow you, so it has no cookie banner. If that ever changes, we'll ask you first and list every cookie here.

Visit statistics
- Vercel Web Analytics counts page views without cookies and doesn't follow you to other websites. We only see totals, such as how many people opened a song page.
Videos
Song videos are hosted on YouTube. Until you press play, a song page shows only a picture: nothing is loaded from YouTube. When you press play, the player loads from youtube-nocookie.com, and from then on YouTube's own privacy policy applies to the video.
Quizzes and practice
So you can pick up where you left off, your best scores, the songs you've watched are saved in your browser's local storage on this device. Without an account they are never sent to us, and clearing this site's data in your browser deletes them. With an account they are also saved to it (see below), and signing out clears them from the device.
Your account
An account is free and optional. If you create one, we keep: your email address; the name you give us, if any; whether you want an email when a new song comes out; and your progress (the songs you've watched, your best quiz and listening scores and how many days in a row you've practised).
We use them to sign you in with a code we email you, to keep your progress on every device, and, only if you ask, to tell you about new songs. We don't sell or share them, and there are no adverts.
Accounts live on our server with Amazon Web Services in London, which also sends our emails (Amazon SES). If you sign in with Google, Google tells us your email address and name. Daily backups are kept for 35 days.
You're in control: on the My account page you can download everything we hold about you, stop the new-song emails, or delete your account. Deleting it removes it at once, and from our backups within 35 days.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, it processes technical data such as your IP address to deliver the pages to you.
Your rights and contact
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to delete it, or object to how it's used. Contact Eduard Vlase Limited through eduard-vlase.com. If you're not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
