Tener or tener que? Read what the line means, then choose the form that fits.

    I'm hungry, but you're feeling sleepy,

  2. 2.ella treinta años y tiene mucha suerte,

    she's thirty years old and she's really lucky,

  3. 3.Yo estudiar para el examen,

    I have to study for the exam,

  4. 4.tú tienes que a tu madre ahora,

    you have to call your mother right now,

  5. 5.él trabajar hasta muy tarde,

    he has to work until really late,

  6. 6.¡y que salir antes de las diez!

    and we have to leave before ten!

Choose the right form
  1. Yo tengo hambre, pero tú tienes sueño,In Spanish you have hunger: tengo hambre, “I'm hungry”.
  2. ella tiene treinta años y tiene mucha suerte,Your age takes tener: tiene treinta años, “she's thirty”.
  3. Yo tengo que estudiar para el examen,Something you have to do: tengo que + the infinitive, estudiar.
  4. tú tienes que llamar a tu madre ahora,After tener que, the other verb doesn't change: the infinitive, llamar.
  5. él tiene que trabajar hasta muy tarde,“Has to” is tener que: tiene que trabajar.
  6. ¡y tenemos que salir antes de las diez!“We” is nosotros: tenemos que salir.
  7. Tengo un café, pero tengo que correr,The coffee is what you have; running is what you have to do: tengo que correr.
  8. tienes mucha suerte, ¡no tienes que hacer nada!“You don't have to do”: no tienes que + the infinitive, hacer.
